What is the difference between the Fire District and the Fire Department?
The Fire District is a political subdivision of the State of New York. It is governed by an elected board of Fire Commissioners with the legal authority to raise property taxes to pay for property, equipment and other items necessary to protect the lives and property of the residents of the fire district. The Fire Department is the oranization that recruits and trains volunteer firefighters to use the equipment furnished by the fire district to protect the lives and property of the residnets of the fire district.

Are there any volunteer programs for a school age child?
The Explorer Post #702 is an opportunity for children ages 14-21 to get involved with the fire department.
