Adopt a Hydrant program:

We have an “Adopt-a-Hydrant” program that we hold during the winter months. Students and their families are invited to “adopt” a fire hydrant near their homes. They take on the responsibility of any cleaning (of snow or other debris) from around their hydrant. They are to report to the fire department if they observe any problems with their hydrant. This program has been successful in the past, and we plan to continue to do it. Each student that is involved receives an “Adoption Certificate” with their name and the location of their hydrant.
