Service Award Program
The North Greece Fire District Service Award Program commenced January 1, 1992. All “active” volunteer members of the North Greece Fire Department are eligible to participate in the program provided they meet annual program requirements. Vested participants receive benefits when they reach entitlement age (62 years of age), become permanently disabled, or the participant dies (in which case their beneficiary would receive the benefits). Participants are vested when they have earned five year’s of service award credit. After entitlement age is attained, active volunteers may still participate in the program on an annual basis (post entitlement).
To date, thirteen participants have reached entitlement age and have received service award benefits. Twenty-one participants have received post-entitlement age benefits and three beneficiaries have received benefits.
